Galerie De Witte Voet and Slow Research Lab invite you to join us for an afternoon ‘Slow dialogue’ in the context of the exhibition ‘Grondhouding (Fundamental)’ by artists Anne Ausloos (BE) and Jeroen van Westen (NL), with special guest Jogi Panghaal (IN).
On display in the gallery are artifacts from Ausloos and van Westen’s ongoing research into the ‘sweet and salty’ clay of Schouwen-Duiveland island in the province of Zeeland, demonstrating how creative practice can both reveal and release the intrinsic qualities of landscape. Panghaal brings his deep knowledge of the sources and design methodologies of craftspeople and traditional artisan communities, and will read his poem ‘Time, Space and Story’ from Slow Research Lab’s just-published book Slow Reader (Valiz 2016).
Following the reading and a short artist talk will be a group discussion about (Slow) approaches like these as vehicles for reflecting upon and (re-)imagining our individual and collective identity in a complex, interdependent world.
